How should citizen education be taught?

Fernando Reimers from Harvard Universitywill direct an investigation on Civic education in collaboration with ViaEducation and INIDE - Universidad Iberoamericana.

The project Civic Education lies in carrying out an evaluation of two programs of Civic education implemented to the 2nd grade of junior high school in two states of Mexico in order to analyze what is what really develop civic abilities in the young peoples and how do they impact at the moment of the action. The evaluation includes three experimental groups:

1. Implementation of the program “Legality culture”
2. Implementation of a program based on Service-Learning
3. Implementation of a program that will combine both

To accomplish the project, 20 schools were selected for each experimental group, resulting 60 shools on each state, one of the north (Nuevo León) and the other of the south (Guerrero) of Mexico, having a total of 120 schools.
